If a cavity is found, depending on the size of the cavity Dr. Shtepa may keep an eye on it or recommend having it filled so that it does not cause further damage to the tooth.
Endodontic therapy is done to save the tooth from being extracted. When the pulp (nerve) of the tooth is infected or inflamed a root canal treatment will be performed to save the tooth from getting extracted. During the treatment, a local anesthetic will be done. Your Shtepa Dentist will create an opening to be able to get to the damaged pulp, remove the pulp, and clean the canal. Once cleaned it will be sealed and a temporary or permanent filling will be done to seal the tooth.
Dental Extractions are done for different reasons, you could have an infected tooth, and saving it is not an option. delaying your root canal, as well as advanced periodontal disease. Dr. Shtepa will use a local anesthetic to numb the area around the tooth for it to be extracted. You may need to have a surgical extraction done. If that is the case, Dr. Shtepa will refer you to Dr.Skosireva or a Maxillofacial Oral Surgeon. A consultation will be done before booking an extraction.
Radiography or "X-rays" are done to make sure that there are no underlining issues that are within the tooth or underneath the gum line. Bitewings are recommended to be done once a year to ensure that you do not have any tooth decay or early signs of bone loss. Periapical X-rays are done to see the whole tooth (including the root) and could be done if you are experiencing a severe toothache or you have a dental emergency.
A dental bridge is done for patients who have one or more missing teeth. It is a dental restoration to replace the teeth that are no longer there. Please book a consultation to see if you are a candidate for this treatment. A bridge is permanent and can not be removed.
Sealants are a great way to protect your child's teeth from tooth decay which is caused by plaque. Plaque can cause pits and holes (cavities) to form and by then your child might need a filling instead. To prevent that, our dentist will apply a sealant on the back teeth which will seal out any bacteria to protect the teeth from tooth decay.

Dental crowns are done when a patient's tooth is damaged. Crowns are put in to restore and save the tooth from further damage. The tooth will be filed down to make sure that the crown will fit, and an impression will be taken for the first appointment and sent to a dental laboratory to be made. A temporary crown will be put in to protect the tooth, and once the crown is made the dentist will make sure the shape, color, and bite are right and then permanently be put on the tooth by cementing it.
